About Us
Powered by expertise
The food industry is constantly changing and growing - and Ranson is growing with it.
More than 75 years ago, we started as a wholesaler for bakers, driven by quality and craftsmanship. By listening to our customers' ever-changing needs, we have evolved into an international partner for both artisan and industrial food professionals.
Ranson is the one-stop shop for premium ingredients, quality raw materials, surprising decorations and the perfect finishing touch to take every creation to the next level.
Our wide range includes reliable partner brands, carefully selected ingredients that we source worldwide directly from the source, as well as high-quality products that we develop and produce in-house. This combination makes our range unique and versatile, and enables us to continuously guarantee quality and innovation.
But our passion extends beyond our product range. Our product development and support rest on decades of experience and in-depth market knowledge. We offer advice and inspiration beyond the product itself and like to think long term. Our future-oriented approach helps realise ambitions.
With a fast, personal and reliable service, supported by an efficient logistics network, we ensure a smooth experience and consistent quality.
Whether it's development, sourcing, production, delivery or troubleshooting, Ranson is the partner for every step of the food industry.
Ranson - powered by expertise.
From 1948 until today
Since 1948, we have grown from a small trader in margarine for bakers to an international distributor and producer of ingredients and products for bakers, chocolatier, caterers, ice cream makers and the food industry.
The beginning...
Lucien Ranson, founder of Ranson Group, starts selling margarine to bakers.
‘As a baker, I was looking for the right margarine for my preparations. It was so hard to find that in 1948 I decided to start distributing it myself.’
Together with his wife Monique Albers, he took the first steps towards what we have become today.
Marzipan
It begins to itch to produce his own. Lucien Ranson sets out to find his own marzipan recipe that meets his high quality standards.
One fact: this family recipe is still carefully preserved and prepared within Ranson today.
Move to Stasegem
The product range and in-house production continue to grow, so the decision is made to provide its own location for both. The wholesaler therefore moves into a larger warehouse in Stasegem.
2nd generation
Also in 1977, Lucien falls ill and the 2nd generation is forced to take over full management sooner than planned. Philippe becomes the new managing director.
Opening Ranshop
With the launch of Ranshop, Ranson is once again broadening its product range. From Harelbeke, our Ranshop ladies serve bakers and bakers' wives with decorations, ornaments, window displays, small equipment and shop supplies.
Opening production Venning
In-house production continues to grow. Meanwhile, production is taking place at several locations.
The several productions are brought together in a new building with the necessary facilities to meet all requirements.
Opening Ranson Ostend
To serve our coastal customers quickly at busy times, Ranson is opening a takeaway centre in Ostend.
The Ranshop's move
Ranshop is also bursting at the seams. Moving into a building on Kortrijksesteenweg in Harelbeke is the next step in the story of our shop, which should become a heaven of inspiration for our customers.
Establishment of Ranson UK
In 2000, Ranson crossed national borders and entered into a partnership with Bekaert & Dupont in London. Ranson UK is born.
Warehouse 4 expansion
An expansion of our bulk storage and frozen food department was needed to expand our product range. The loading docks were also expanded.
Ranson Bru
To better serve our customers all over Belgium, Ranson Bru is opened in Brussels in 2003. Not only as a distribution centre, but also as a pick-up zone where our customers can quickly and easily collect their raw materials.
Acquisition of Erens nv
With the acquisition of Erens nv, we further strengthen our position as a distributor.
Venning expansion
Our production facility was equipped with a Democenter and a meeting room. That Democenter has space to inspire our customers with customised demonstrations in collaboration with our partners and experts in their fields.
Moving Ranson Bru
Our warehouse and collection centre in Brussels is moving to a location with more space. From here, goods can be collected, and customers delivered.
3rd generation
Since 2000, Charlotte, Bruno and Michael Ranson respectively have started in the company. From 1/1/2007, Bruno becomes the new managing director and the transition to the 3rd generation is a fact.
Expansion of Ranshop
Our Ranshop in Harelbeke has been expanded to offer more space for the growing range of attractive decorations, trendy packaging, decoration advice, small materials, etc.
Poissonier acquisition
Ranson continues to grow. In 2008, Poissonnier Bakkerij-Service BVBA also joins the group.
Ranson Hoeselt
Our branch in Hoeselt was equipped with a completely new building. A completely new warehouse, offices and our own Ranshop were needed to offer our regional customers the good service we are known for.
Cooperation Fructosad
In 2010, we expanded our close cooperation with Fructosad in Poland. This way, Ranson Group also controls the production of fruit itself.
Van Reet acquisition
With the arrival of Van Reet, Ranson Group continues to grow.
Acquisition Comptoir Sucrier
As a producer and distributor of quality raw materials, Ranson acquires Comptoir Sucrier. This strategic move brings all the essential expertise and production capabilities related to sugar under the Ranson Group, further strengthening our commitment to excellence and innovation in the industry.
Acquisition Cremelan
Ranson Group decides to broaden its offering to include ice cream makers. With the acquisition of Cremelan in 2015, we can offer artisan and industrial ice cream makers quality, service, professional advice and the best products.
Acquisition of In2Bake
In 2016, In2Bake joins the Ranson Group.
Establishment of Gourmet Logistique
In 2017, Gourmet Logistique is founded in France, as a logistics partner for Rémy Cointreau.
70 years of Ranson
After 70 years of Ranson Group, Ranson is getting a new look. This is how we make Ranson ready for the next 70 years. A future in which ‘All the best’ is central.
Acquisition Droessaert
As of 1 January 2020, the Ranson Group has acquired Droessaert. This will allow us to further improve the logistics network.
New Headquarters
Later this year, on 12 March, Ranson also moved its headquarters to the new building in Stasegem.
75 years of Ranson
2023 marks an important milestone in our company's history: our 75th anniversary.
With passion for creativity, for bakers, chocolatiers, ice cream makers, catering and the food industry, and of course for each other. That's what Ranson is all about.
A smile for each other for 75 years.
Ranson Brussels: new location, new concept
At our new location in Brussels, we not only implement the Cash and Carry concept, but also bring about optimisations, including a cross-docking system and the integration of a demo area.
Ranson UK Relocates to London Gateway Port: Expanding Capacity and Sustainability
In December, we are moving to state-of-the-art premises at London Gateway Port. This milestone signifies a doubling of our capacity, a deeper commitment to sustainable business practices, and our ambition to become the leading partner for artisan and industrial food professionals in the UK.
Ranson in figures
75 years later, Ranson Group supplies 3,500 professional customers in 32 countries worldwide from 7 branches. To do so, we enter into close cooperation with 300 suppliers who supply us with raw materials and products with the best origins from 34 countries. Our 27 representatives are ready every day to provide service and quality to Ranson customers. That quality is delivered to their homes daily by our 40 trucks.
‘As a baker, I was looking for the right margarine for my preparations. This was so hard to find that in 1948 I decided to start distributing it myself. And that's how family business Ranson was born.’
